I have good news and bad news! The good news (gospel) is that you
can be saved and spend eternity with God. The bad news is that if you
deny the free gift, then you will spend eternity in the lake of fire
separated from God.
Good news: Salvation is available to all:
John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have
eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the
world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who
believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged
already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten
Son of God.
We cannot earn salvation. It is a free gift to be accepted by faith:
Eph 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that
not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that
no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would
walk in them.
Our purpose is good works, but they do not save us. God's unmerited
favor does that.
Bad news: Everyone's name is initially in the Book of Life. If you reject
the free gift of Jesus' sacrifice, then your name is blotted out:
Rev 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it,
from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was
found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing
before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was
opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the
things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And
the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up
the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them
according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the
lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's
name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the
lake of fire.
