Why should Christians be interested in Jewish traditions?
I'm glad you asked!
1) Jesus Christ created everything and picked Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob to be His chosen people.
2) Jesus Christ was a Jew, his mother was a Jew, and his
stepfather was a Jew.
3) Jesus Christ perfectly followed the Jewish Law
4) Jesus Christ is the bridegroom and the Church is His
bride
If a Jewish man sees a Jewish woman whom he would desire
as a wife, then he
1) Follows her to her home
2) Lets her father know that he is interested in making
the daughter his wife
3) The man and the father - in the presence of the mother
and daughter - draw up a detailed marriage contract and sign
it. The role of the husband and the role of the wife are
clearly defined in the marriage contract.
4) The man pours a glass of wine and gives it to the daughter.
If she drinks it, then she has accepted the marriage contract.
They are betrothed.
5) The man goes home where his father instructs him in how
to prepare a place for his bride.
6) When her new home is ready, the groom and his friends go
to the place of the bride and bring her to the new home.
Jesus Christ died for the world on a Roman cross. Those who
placed their trust in Him as Savior and Lord are the true
Church, the bride of Jesus Christ. The roles of each is
clearly detailed in the Word. Believers enter into the
marriage covenant by being baptized into His death, burial
and resurrection and partaking of the bread and the wine
during the Lord's Supper in rememberance.
Jesus Christ is currently in Heaven preparing a place for His
bride. He and His angels will come shortly for His bride.
We will celebrate the marriage supper of the Lamb with Him
in Heaven and will be with Him forever.
