Where is Our Josiah?

The United States of America has turned away from God.
We have a President who omits “by their Creator” when he
quotes the Declaration of Independence. He has not been
going to church because it would “create too much of a
distraction for the worshipers.” He and his family did
go this month – the speaker was a Muslim!
How different this is from Josiah in 2 Kings 23: The
king went up to the house of the LORD and all the men of
Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and
the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small
and great; and he read in their hearing all the words of
the book of the covenant.
Most - if not all – of the nation's problems can be
traced to immorality. Most marriages now end in divorce –
even for Christians; most births are out-of-wedlock; tens
of millions of able-bodied folks do not work and are
dependent on productive citizens for their care; illegal
aliens are supported by United States citizens; dependence
on God has been replaced by dependence on government; laws
are passed and not enforced; the federal government has
illegally intervened in matters not enumerated in the
United States Constitution; etc.
“Poverty in America” has increased despite trillions of
dollars spent on the “War on Poverty.” Much of this
“increase” is due to an erroneous use of statistics by
“category” rather than individual. Those self reliant
Americans who are “poor” at some point in time are not
poor 10 years later. The “poor” in America have “stuff”
(TV, car, electricity, indoor plumbing, cell phone, washer,
dryer, dishwasher, etc.) that families in other countries
can only dream about. Many of the truly poor have made bad
decisions - dropped out of school, became pregnant, divorced
the productive spouse and had no skills to earn a living,
etc. The politicians made laws (CRA, 1977) making it easy
to get housing with little or no means to pay for it;
threatened or sued banks and mortgage companies to force
them to make bad mortgage loans; loosened laws on the
financial industry and failed to enforce them; and then
blamed everyone else for their failure.
When the financial system “collapsed”, the government
illegally intervened. Contract law was ignored and
political supporters were rewarded at the expense of the
American taxpayers. Media commentators like Ed Schultz
of MSNBC stated to callers that GM and Chrysler received
“loans” from the government and were not bailed out. He
got several calls since some people were well aware that
the taxpayers and the unions have an ownership interest
and creditors lost their priority given by contract law.
American schools are failing. They teach the
“evolution” lie in science class although there is
nothing scientific about it. Testing and peer review are
not possible because there is no data; only secular
explanations which reject God for concepts that science
cannot explain. Kids are taught the mechanics of making
babies without the moral lessons necessary. Abortion –
which is murder of a human being – is the “progressive”
solution to irresponsible parents. Homosexuality is
taught as normal rather than an abomination. Climate data
is "selected" to show an immanent "global crisis."
Where is our Josiah? I believe that Jesus Christ will
rapture His Church at any moment and seven years later
establish His Kingdom on Earth. Those who rejected Him
will spend an eternity in the lake of fire, while those
who have put their trust in Him as Savior will be with
Him forever.

GOD or government?

1 Samuel 8:10-18
Warning concerning a King
So Samuel spoke all the words of the LORD to the people
who had asked of him a king. He said, "This will be the
procedure of the king who will reign over you: he will take
your sons and place them for himself in his chariots and
among his horsemen and they will run before his chariots.
He will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and of
fifties, and some to do his plowing and to reap his harvest
and to make his weapons of war and equipment for his
chariots. He will also take your daughters for perfumers
and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields
and your vineyards and your olive groves and give them to his
servants. He will take a tenth of your seed and of your
vineyards and give to his officers and to his servants. He
will also take your male servants and your female servants
and your best young men and your donkeys and use them for his
work. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves
will become his servants. Then you will cry out in that day
because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, but
the LORD will not answer you in that day."
